I try to read some every day. Generally that means reading for 45 minutes on the subway in the morning when conditions allow. A Lot of my reading is technical in nature. Mostly this is because I need to keep up with a changing world. Sometimes I read those books for pleasure too. When I am reading recreationally I generally choose SciFi. But I am noticing that I have been reading a lot of history lately.
The prices listed in the reports are the MSRP listed on the cover of the copy of the book that I have. Since some books hang out here for years before I finish -- or sometimes even start -- reading them the current price may be different.

I guess I am not made of steel because I didn't find anything riveting about it. It is not my favorite Clarke work. It also says it "Includes the bonus short story 'Jupiter V.'" which it doesn't. I don't know if it settled down or if I just got used to it but it didn't bother me as much by the end of the book. traces Descartes' life from late childhood until his death and covers some of his contributions to mathematics and philosophy. some aspects of Descartes' work are glossed over but yet there are detailed descriptions of some of his mathematics. A very uneven book I think. This report by Charlie at 11/09/2005 08:46:00 PM |
